2010 Taft Street Chardonnay Russian River Valley $12.99
This new chardonnay has a suggested retail of $20, we have it on sale for only $12.99. It’s hard to find good Russian River chardonnay under $15. Winery notes: “Flavors of fresh apple and pear identify this Russian River Valley Chardonnay. The fruit is prominent in the middle, and spicy hints of oak bring a satisfying finish.”
2011 Chamisal Vineyards Chardonnay Central Coast Stainless Steel (un-oaked) $12.99
Chamisal Vineyards was one of the first wineries to introduce a new refreshing chardonnay, minus the oak. Winery notes: “This wine exhibits classic varietal characteristics with aromas of ripe pineapple, fresh Gala apples, pear and candied lemon. The palate has a weight that belies its unoaked status with a rich entry of fresh citrus fruit that leads into secondary aromas of fig and mineral. Finishing clean and crisp with lingering acidity, the wine is fresh and vivacious, with a dense mid-palate.”
2010 Groth Vineyards & Winery Chardonnay Napa Valley $22.99
Winemaker Tasting Notes: “Long, cool fermentation in a mixture of old and new barrels gives our Chardonnay layers of fruitiness and complexity that result in a wine that is very enjoyable when young or after several years of bottle age. This method of fermentation, in conjunction with whole cluster pressing and “sur lie” aging add layers of toastiness and creaminess to the wine. Together these components meld together harmoniously to create a balanced wine that is both lively and rich in aroma and flavor.”
2010 Miner Family Vineyards Chardonnay Napa Valley Oakville $26.99
Miner has always made some of the best chardonnay in the valley. The 2010 continues the great success. Winery notes: “Sourced from select low-yielding vineyards, this classic Napa Valley Chardonnay shows depth of character with bright fruit flavors and spice nuances framed by toasty French oak. Our winemaker uses malolactic fermentation in moderation to retain Chardonnay’s natural crispness.”
2010 Mer Soleil Chardonnay Central Coast $27.99
Mer Soleil is easily one of our top-selling chardonnays in the store. Winery Notes: “Golden-hued in color, this wine opens up with opulent fruit aromas of pineapple, peach, citrus notes and banana. The expression in the mouth is soft, round and elegant with flavors of lemon zest, apple pie, vanilla bean and buttered toast. It has a rich and luscious mouth-feel with bright acidity on the finish.”
2011 Brassfield Serenity Proprietary White High Valley $10.99
Winery Notes: “The 2011 vintage was marked by a cool wet spring, a long growing season and a very small crop. The 2011 Serenity is a distinctive proprietary blend that displays fruit forward aromas of citrus, honeysuckle, nectarine and with expressive minerality. The wine is well-balanced, leaving a long, clean and well-textured finish, like summer in a glass.”
2011 Morgan Winery Sauvignon Blanc Monterey $12.99
Winery Notes: “Our Sauvignon Blanc is a proprietary blend of classic Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Musqué and Semillon. The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc features aromas of orange blossom, apricot and mint. Flavors of plum, lime and pear are lively and refreshing. Oak aging lightly accents the bright acidity and adds an elegant texture.”
2010 Alta Maria Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Santa Ynez Valley $16.99
Winemaker Notes: “The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc is pale antique gold in color, dynamitic aromas of honeydew, gooseberries and tomatillos abound in the glass. Tropical fruit adds to the body of this moderately weighted wine which opens up on the palate to zesty acidity and slight minerality.”
2011 Andrew Murray Vineyards RGB Camp 4 Vineyard Santa Ynez Valley $19.99
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 90 Points: “(a 50/50 blend of roussanne and grenache blanc): Light yellow. A highly aromatic bouquet evokes orange zest, ginger and honeysuckle, along with a dusty mineral overtone. Vibrant nectarine and citrus flavors show very good focus and energy, picking up spiciness with air. Finishes dry and refreshingly bitter, with excellent intensity, focus and length. Very grown-up in style, with no excess fat.”
2009 Stolpman L’Avion Estate Santa Ynez Valley $29.99
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 90 Points: “Straw-gold. Sexy leesy scents give a smoky, carnal quality to the aromas of orange blossom, wild mint and botanical herbs. A gamey, very dry midweight, in a distinctly Old World style, with plenty of alcoholic weight but fruit currently in the background. Melts into the palate on the aftertaste like a sake.”
2010 Herman Story “Tom Boy” White Blend Santa Barbara County $41.99
Winemaker Notes: “…The 2010 Tomboy is how you remember those few short days. Scents of pretty white flowers, lemon verbena, cinnamon, clementines, wet sidewalks and pink peppercorns. The palate has all the richness of those warm summer evenings and the subtleties of white tea, almond oil, laurel leaves and a cool, quartz-like minerality. Truly a wine to bring you back.
