Domestic Wines

2011 Rusina Zinfandel Lodi $13.99

Rusina’s philosophy revolves around the fact that all great wines start in the vineyards. Rusina emphasizes the varietal and terroir from each appellation in which they are grown. Sustainably farmed, our vineyards are carefully planted to the correct clone and rootstock for their individual site. The 2011 has aromas of blackberry, anise, raspberry jam and some toasted oak. There is subtle pepper and spice notes, and has a typical zinfandel finish that is soft and fruity throughout.

2011 Morgan Winery Chardonnay Highland Santa Lucia Highlands $22.99

The Morgan Chardonnay for 2011 is showing very well and should be this summer’s top selling Chard’s on the floor. A delicious wine for the price. Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: “This focused, elegant Chardonnay’s aromas feature tangerine, nectarine and almond. On the palate, the rich flavors are complemented by a light touch of toasty oak and refreshing citrus with bright acidity. Incredibly food-friendly, the 2011 Highland Chardonnay is a perfect match with cream-sauced pastas, roast chicken and pork, and seafood.”

2011 Calera Wine Company Pinot Noir Central Coast $23.99

Calera Wine Company continues to produce excellent values in the marketplace. This 2011 Pinot Noir is no exception. Winemakers Notes: “Plum, pomegranate, pink rose petal, boysenberry and the slightest hint of watermelon candy dance from this 2011 Central Coast Pinot Noir. It’s full of boysenberry and spicy cherries jubilee character with nice brightness and delightful flavors of black raspberry and sweet oak. A bit of tartness accents the soft, flowing texture and lively finish.”

2011 Foxen Vineyard Pinot Noir Santa Maria Valley $31.99

This has been one our best selling Pinot’s on the floor. A great wine for the price and will go with many of the upcoming Summer barbecues! Winemaker’s Notes: Aromas of strawberry rhubarb pie, pink peppercorns and fresh cut wheat. Flavors of Sassafras, cherry, mushrooms and hard spice (cardamom and cinnamon), with a great natural acidity to round off the finish. The majority of fruit for this bottling comes from the Pommard clone block at our Block 8-Bien Nacido Vineyard.

2012 Spottswoode Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley $34.99

One of the best Sauvignon Blanc’s from California. We only get one drop of this delicious white wine, so you’ll need to hurry. Winemaker Notes: “This wine is viscous and textured, with wonderful minerality backed up by bright citrus notes of lemon and mandarin orange, as well as noticeable stone fruit characters of ripe white peach and apricot. Its fragrant, floral nose conjures bouquets of jasmine and honeysuckle. A beautifully balanced wine with strength, breadth and length from start to finish.”

2011 Ridge Vineyards Geyserville Proprietary Red Wine Sonoma County $35.99

95 points, Connoisseurs’ Guide Ridge has made the Geyserville as a single-site zinfandel in every year since 1966. The grapes are grown in three adjoining vineyards on a defined stretch of gravelly soil approximately one-and-a-quarter miles long and a half-mile wide. The 2011 blend is 78% Zinfandel, 16% Carignane, 4% Petite Sirah, 1% Alicante Bouschet, 1% Mataro (Mourvedre). Winemaker Tasting Notes: “Aromas of scented bramble fruit, mint, gravelly earth, and sweet oak. Flavors of black tea, sweet cherry fruit and complex minerality. Sensuous and layered with medium chalky tannins and lively acidity. Finishes long and savory.”

2010 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay Napa Valley $46.99

93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate Winemaker Tasting Notes: “Pale golden color in the glass, with the faintest hint of green belying its youth, this Chardonnay opens with rich and intense aromas of lemon, lime leaf, citrus flowers, and a touch of honey before moving into spicy pie crust and a hint of mascarpone creaminess - all topped with a nice flinty finish. The citrus trend continues on the palate with a firm acidity and tropical star fruit. This wine has excellent mouthfeel with big full texture and a mouthcoating creaminess that nicely complements the white stone fruit (nectarine and peach) and slight green apple fruit flavors. On the finish, look for a pleasantly subtle marzipan nuttiness.”

2010 Justin Vineyards Isosceles Paso Robles $59.99

The much anticipated arrival of the Summer’s biggest Paso Robles release is here. New packaging to go with the outstanding 2010 vintage in California! Winemaker Notes: “Bright with a deep ruby core, lighter with a bit of garnet toward the rim. Aroma: Rich and aromatic with dark fruit of black cherry, cassis, exotic licorice, cinnamon, and subtle vanilla spice with sweet notes of tobacco, a little cocoa and subtle toasted cedar in the background. Palate: Full bodied with black cherry and classic black currant fruit, complex brown spice of star anise, licorice with cocoa and herbal notes of sweet tobacco and a hint of eucalyptus.”
