2010 Domaine Laroche Chablis Cuvée Saint Martin $19.99
Cuvée Saint Martin is a blend of the best plots of Domaine Laroche in the Chablis appellation. All plots are located on Kimmeridgian soil with a west to northwest orientation. Thanks to the diverse nuances of these sources, they bring richness and complexity to the final cuvée. Intense with hints of ripe white fruit and spring blossoms. Ripe fruit balanced by zesty acidity; lingering fruity finish.- Importer’s Notes
2008 Domaine Henri Prudhon St. Aubin Blanc “Les Castets” 1er Cru $31.99
“This offers a slight step up in aromatic elegance and depth with a very fresh lemon and dried rose petal nose that is trimmed in anise hints that are also picked up by the attractively textured and nicely concentrated middle weight flavors that evidence a light minerality on the precise and energetic finish. Fine quality from young vine fruit.” Burghound (BH)
2008 Domaine Henri Prudhon St. Aubin Blanc “Sur le Sentier du Clou” 1er Cru $31.99
“A pretty and highly expressive is dominated by airy floral aromas with undertones of grapefruit and lime that introduces rich, fresh and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that are dry, cool and linear on the balanced, understated and lingering finish. Lovely juice and worth considering.” BH 90 Points Outstanding
2010 Romain Collet Chablis “Mont de Milieu” 1er Cru $39.99
Completely vinified in demi-muids 15 years in age. No “oak” hear folks. Just vigorous, full flavored fruit, silex, and chalk with abundant fresh acidity. And that magic of Mont de Mileu vineyard. A bizou of white flowers in the aromas and on the palate. This is a keeper. Bravo! Approaching Grand Cru? Yeah, I would say so. It’s flanked by Montee de Tonnerre along “Grand Cru Row”.
2010 Romain Collet Chablis “Montee de Tonnerre” 1er Cru $39.99
One cuvee from one parcel with vines of 25 and 45 years. Amazingly, this vineyard looks right at Grand Cru “Les Clos” and is yet a 1er Cru. This is your good fortune because of the price. Zero oak. Lovely bright gold color with floral and mineral scents that fills the room, not just the glass. A vigorous stoniness on the palate layered with fresh white peach and citrus.
2010 Romain Collet Chablis “Vaillons” 1er Cru $39.99
Three parcels used for this cuvee: two are blocks of 38-year-old vines making up 20% of the blend, the balance from vines that are 52 years old. Remarkable. The fruit of one block fermented in round steel, another in foudre and the last in 900-liter oval barrel. Wow! Great structure. The bouquet is filled with flint, peach and gravelly, stony aromas.
2010 Romain Collet Chablis “Valmur” Grand Cru $45.99
Pour a glass of this and you will know instantly that you are experiencing Grand Cru magic: pulsing color, the fruit fills the glass and your senses. Mouth filling, rich and fragrant. White fruits and minerally texture on the palate. Very elegant, yet possessing power and strength. Quite remarkable.
2010 Romain Collet Chablis “Les Clos” Grand Cru $45.99
We are honored to have been offered this first-time effort by Romain with “Les Clos” vineyard. The first of many more to come. The world-class quality of this vineyard in undeniable. Romain made one cuvee from 40-year-old vines. Its presence in the glass shows its breed. Fresh, open fruit with a kiss of citrus and beguiling stoniness leading to floral whispers. On the palate, well, this is where the magic of “Les Clos” really shines through. Length, balance, nerve and acidity. A very memorable wine.
2008 Domaine Henri Prudhon Chassagne Montrachet “Les Chenevottes” 1er Cru $46.99
“A more reserved nose of orchard fruit, resin and citrus aromas that fade seamlessly into intense, fleshy and generous middle weight flavors that possess ample dry extract, punch, drive and very solid if not sensational complexity. In particular I like the agreeably dry and detailed finish that is clean without being commercial.” BH 91 Points Outstanding
2010 Domaine Henri Prudhon & Fils Puligny- Montrachet “Les Enseignères” Villages $52.99
“An exuberant nose of fresh white flower and lightly spiced pear aromas precede sappy, delicious, palate staining and persistent middle weight flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel due to the ample dry extract. This graceful effort offers outstanding quality for a villages level vineyard and is recommended.” BH 90 Points Outstanding
2010 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits Saint Georges Vieilles Vignes Villages $59.99
“Very mild reduction diminishes only slightly the red and dark berry fruit aromas that are pungently earthy where this element continues onto the rich and impressively scaled flavors that possess a fleshy mouth feel, all wrapped in a long and mouth coating finish. This brooding and very serious effort will require 6 to 8 years to be at its best.” 89-91 Points Burghound
