Domestic White Wines

2011 Solena Estate Pinot Gris Willamette Valley $16.99

Another new visitor to the Wine House is an excellent Pinot Gris from Oregon. We liked it so much were also pouring the wine in our restaurant by the glass. Winemaker Laurent Montalieu Tasting Notes: “Inviting bright clear color with a touch of green hues. The nose is sweet and floral with notes of orange blossom, vanilla, honeysuckle and graham crackers. Juicy exotic fruits are adding to the taste with flavors of lemon and passion fruit then lingers with white pear and finishes with a crisp citrucy, almost mineral character, that shows its 100% Willamette Valley origin.”

2012 Donkey & Goat Isabel’s Cuvée Grenache Rosé Mendocino $16.99

WOW! This beautiful Rose’ was again delicious this year. This killer pink wine was made from 98+ year old Grenache Gris vines. Winemaker Notes: “Strawberry, tangerine and melon excite the senses for what follows. A moment to ponder reveals floral and earthy aromas. On the palate juicy berry flavors please while the tannins and acidity prove this is a real wine that compliments nearly everything on the spring and summer table.”

2011 Calera Wine Company Chardonnay Central Coast $17.99

The 2011 Chardonnay was just released and we are excited to bring in this delicious Chardonnay. Winemaker notes: “This classic and effusive bouquet boasts of nectarine, honeysuckle, jasmine and chalky notes; even a hint of orange blossom. Lively and bright on the palate, this 2011 Viognier is silky and velvety with mouthwatering flavors of mandarin, chiffon, lilikoi, almond and mango, sporting a bright, delicious, lingering finish. Yum.”

2011 Calera Wine Company Viognier Central Coast $17.99

Just another fantastic spring release from Calera Wine Company. The Viognier always aims to please! Winemakers notes: “This 2011 Central Coast Chardonnay has a lot of personality; a rich bouquet of peach pie and kumquats, a full mouthful of flavor with ripe stone fruit, bright Bartlett pear and crème fraîche. The texture is soft, round, smooth and succulent with hints of sweet oak, and a nice, long, beckoning finish.”

2010 Fieldfare Chardonnay Monterey County $18.99

New find just arrived at the Wine House. The 2010 Fieldfare is a delicious Chardonnay at an excellent price from Monterey County. Winemaker notes: “Lemon, brioche and honeysuckle overlaying crushed seashells and flinty minerality. Citrus and orchard fruit flavors with hints of challah and lime zest. The palate is surprisingly creamy and rich, but the structure and acid of the wine maintains focus. This Chardonnay is absolutely approachable without sacrificing complexity or composition.

2010 Chateau St. Jean Chardonnay Robert Young Vineyard Alexander Valley $21.99

Over 100 6-packs have sold! This is an fantastic buy for Chardonnay from Sonoma. 92 Points Wine Spectator Notes: “Graceful and understated, with delicate, fragrant floral, white peach, honeydew melon and smoky oak notes, all beautifully proportioned, offering a long finish. Drink now through 2019.” - J.L.

2012 CEP by Peay Estate Rose’ Sonoma Coast $23.99

Nick Peay grows the grapes, his wife Vanessa Wong – formerly winemaker at Peter Michael – makes the wine, and Andy Peay runs the business side. CEP is another value-driven label made at Peay Vineyards. There is no better Pinot Noir Rose’ from California! A great wine.

2010 Solitude Chardonnay Carneros $24.99

Still a go-to favorite on the Wine House shelves!! Winemaker Richard Litsch Tasting notes: “This is my twenty-third vintage of making Solitude Chardonnay. Over this period the wine has developed a reputation for consistency and value. As always our grapes came from four ranches within the Sangiacomo Family Vineyards just south of the Town of Sonoma. This wine exhibits the classic character of the Carneros. Ripe fruit flavors are complimented by a seamless integrated mouth feel and a pleasant long-lasting smooth finish. Enjoy!”

Cold Heaven Cellars was founded in 1996 by owner/winemaker Morgan Clendenen who pioneered the cool-climate viognier style that the winery has become famous for producing.
