2011 Dos Minas Torrontés Cafayate (Argentina) $9.99
The dos minas (“two chicks” in Argentine slang) of the name are Lucía Romero, who runs Bodega El Porvenir de los Andes in Cafayate, Argentina, and Heather Willens, who came to Buenos Aires via California and has experience working with small wineries in Argentina. Both are champions of wines from the mystical desert landscapes of Cafayate, and both believe that Torrontés is a wonderfully aromatic, food-friendly wine that is among the best of what Argentina has to offer to the world. Spicy, floral aromatic notes, as well as a lovely rich scent of fresh tangerines. Juicy red grapefruit and mandarin flavors lead the way on the palate -vibrant and full of recently bottled freshness.

2012 Bodegas y Vinedos Dos Victorias Jose Pariente Verdejo Rueda (Spain) $15.99
The wine shows a brilliant straw yellow with greenish reflections. The aroma, of great intensity, is elegant, fresh and complex. It has a markedly fruity tone that spans the range of white fruits (pear, peach), citrus and passion fruit. There are also hints of fennel, garrigue, balsamic and anise. In the mouth the notes of fresh fruit appear again. Unctuous, sweet and elegant with good crispness on the finish.

There are 10,000 cases for the United States. This amazing wine boasts a dark ruby/purple color along with a sweet kiss of jammy black cherries intertwined with crushed rock notes that give the wine an undeniable minerality. As it hits the palate, a full-bodied, voluptuous texture takes hold and the flavor profile moves towards blacker fruits (ripe raspberries and black currants) intermixed with camphor and forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied with taut tannins, underpinned by a keen citric thread that cuts through the licorice-tinged, dark berry and allspice-tinged fruit with style. Upon release it should continue to evolve for another 5-6 years and drink well through 2040.”
