2012 A to Z Wineworks Pinot Gris Willamette Valley $12.99
The 2012 A to Z Pinot Gris has intense aromatics of lime blossom, nectarine, tangerine, melon, wet stone and guava that build into aromatics of nutmeg, Bing cherries and kiwi. The palate is concentrated, ripe and succulent with wonderful lush fruit and mineral notes. The concentration is framed by ripe acidity that gives lift to the wine as it moves to the mid-palate. A incredible value at this price, you can’t go wrong!
2012 True Myth Chardonnay Paragon Vineyard Edna Valley $13.99
This 2012 vintage is 100 percent Chardonnay from Paragon Vineyard, but a blend of fruit from vines ranging from five to 40 years old, and consisting of five different clonal selections including California Heritage and French Dijon clones. The finished wine is loaded with ripe flavors of pear, pineapple, light citrus, vanilla bean, and sweet oak. A great NEW chardonnay to add to our shelves!
2012 La Crema Pinot Gris Monterey County $16.99
One of the top wine producers of value friendly wines has come out with a delicious Pinot Gris. Winemaker Tasting Notes: “Bright and balanced, this wine opens with aromas of fresh white peach, Meyer lemon and subtle ¬oral hints. The lush palate is layered with ¬flavors of ripe pear, yellow plum, baking spice and exotic tropical notes. Mineral undertones are evident in the lengthy finish, further defining this wine as classic Monterey.”
2012 Twomey Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley $21.99
This wine seems to be catching steam, because the last few vintages have sold out in record time. Winery tasting notes: “Our 2012 Twomey Estate Sauvignon Blanc has a light straw color with green highlights. It has an enticing nose of guava, honeydew melon, pineapple, custard apple, wet slate and lime zest. On the palate, it has a fruit sweet attack and a fleshy mid-palate that retains crispness due to perfect acid balance. The finish is long and focused, redolent of ripe tropical fruit balanced by citrus freshness.”
2011 Landmark Vineyards Chardonnay Overlook Sonoma/Santa Barbara/Monterey Counties $22.99
Landmark has been a top-seller at The Wine House for over a decade, and this 2011 is a classic from them this year. Winery Notes: “The 2011 vintage is an artfully selected blend of twenty-one vineyards. Our relationships with each vineyard spans many years, if not decades. On the nose, the wine exhibits beautiful notes of spun honey and honeysuckle. A creamy smooth entrance leads to a full bodied mouthfeel of sweet apple pie and nectarine with rich marzipan and toasted brioche on the finish.”
2012 Donkey & Goat Grenache Blanc El Dorado $23.99
This is the third vintage of their Grenache Blanc. The 2012 is a blend from both the Fenaughty Vineyard and Swansboro Vineyard from El Dorado. A tiny production is really only the sad part, just 198 cases made. This is fantastic white wine that can be enjoyed by itself or pairs beautifully with seafood dishes, like grilled calamari from the hot new restaurant Connie & Ted’s!
2011 Antinori Antica Chardonnay Napa Valley $31.99
92 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (12/2012): “Antica’s 2011 Chardonnay is laced with lemon peel, white flowers, spices and crushed rocks. In this vintage, the estate’s Chardonnay is especially rich and powerful, largely because the irregular flowering lowered yields by 50%. This is an unusual Chardonnay that is bright in its aromas and flavors but fairly broad-shouldered in style.”
2012 Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley $36.99
Winery Notes: “The startlingly fresh, vivid aromas of our 2012 Sauvignon Blanc literally leap out of the glass, redolent of just-cut white grapefruit, bracing gooseberry, lime and kiwi, and ripe honeydew melon, with subordinate spice and vanilla scents. On the medium- bodied palate, the wine’s ripe grapefruit, guava, melon, green apple and mineral flavors are remarkably rich, intense, concentrated and vibrant, with a long, full finish packed with fresh fruit and mineral/chalky (a la White Bordeaux) tones. This is our 38th vintage of Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, and it’s a doozy, unquestionably one of our best.”
2011 Deovlet Wines Chardonnay Zotovich Family Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills $36.99
Winemaker Tasting Notes: “Stunning aromatics with remarkable purity and finesse, this wine has excellent depth and richness. Lifted by citrus fruit and layers of ripe stone fruit, along with spicy notes of ginger, white pepper, and anise all underlined by a kiss of tropical fruit shining through on the palate. Subtle French oak, roughly 25% new, offers toasted hazelnut and peanut skin. The sandy soils of this site, lying squarely in the middle of the appellation, volunteer an earthiness and briny sea shell, mineral driven finish to the wine.”
